24 Apples a Day
I know this isn't in SoCal, but...

Holy crap! The new Apple Store (the cube) at 59th and 5th is going to be open twenty-four hours a day! That's excellent news because it means there's finally something to do in midtown after 11pm besides eating and drinking. It'll also be helpful for the next time that Ash's Junior Mints melt all over her iPod.

Oh, and for the first twenty-four hours (beginning tomorrow at 6pm), they're giving away a MacBook an hour.

I think I need a new 24 hour location.

Any ideas?

I just heard a rumour about a 24 hour Walmart in Glendale. Does anyone know if this is true?

Cafe Westminster
You know the one. Off the 405, open 24 hours.

Except not!

On Sunday, Monday, Tuesdays they're closed from midnight to 6am.

So don't make the same mistake that we did and go there expecting them to be open.

In other news, does anyone know of any other random 24 hr restaurants worth checking out?

If Disneyland was open 24 hours, would you buy a pass?

I already have one (but I might use it more)
Only if they lowered the price
No, I really don't see the appeal in Disneyland at 2am

Main Beach
Main Beach in Laguna Beach is (as far as I know) the only beach in Orange County that's open 24 hours. All the others supposedly close at 10pm, and they often have patrol cars come by and kick people off. But Main Beach is always open. Beware of a homeless guy named Pescha though. He's creepy.

Who knows where there are some 24 hour bowling allys? I know there's at least one in Orange County.

If you're ever in the Fairfax area, go to Canter's Deli. Canter's was the first restaurant in the Western United States to be open 24 hours a day, with the addition of the "Kibbitz Room," a bar annex. Canter's has a fully-stocked deli, a wonderful bakery, and the leanest corned beef sandwiches you've ever tasted. If you're not into heavy sandwiches, try the "mish mash." It's a chicken-based soup with noodles, rice, kreplach and a giant matzo ball. It has healing qualities - I kid you not. And wash it all down with a chocolate phosphate, an egg cream, or a Doc Brown's. Mmmmmmm, it doesn't get much more Jewish than that.

So yeah. Canter's Deli. Like nothing you've ever experienced (unless you've eaten at Brent's in Northridge, but it's not open 24 hours, so screw it.)

Sex Shops
Last week, I went to not one, but two 24 hour sex shops located within about a block of one another. Both were on Harbor Blvd in/around Santa Ana.

The first, Spanky's, was more or less an adult video store with a few toys thrown around. In my opinion, more of somewhere you might go if you're looking for a specific item or really want some porn at 3am. It was fairly cramped and their selection was a bit strange (a blow up Paris Hilton?) but the guy behind the counter was quite helpful and friendly. Honestly, though a bit skeezy, they probably would have what you're looking for.

The second, I can't remember the name of, something involving Naughty or Nighties or, I'm not sure. It was a much nicer location, brightly lit, much larger. It carried more clothes, shoes, wigs, etc. This store was more of a place one might go to shop, rather than to necessarily purchase. Aside from the clothes etc, this shop didn't have anything out of the ordinary, but if you want to kill some time at 3am, it's a good place to check out.

This is the official first post in this community, which basically exists so we can tell one another about 24 hour locations throughout Southern California, offer reviews on them, etc. I know that I love going out at all hours and would love to hear about more places.

It can be as simple as "I went to the best Denny's/Save-on the other night" to your review of multiple locations to a small local find you just discovered. Just be sure to let everyone know where your newfound treasure is!
